Shipping Company Selection

 

Max age limit is 18 and 23 if you are a graduate.

 

Pre-sea standard as per DG shipping requirements.

With my current qualification which marine course can I join?  (Pre-Sea)

3 Months course including

A-VI/1-1 PST , A-VI/1-2 FPFF, A-VI/1-3 EFA,

A-VI/1-4 PSSR

A-VI/1-1 PST , A-VI/1-2 FPFF, A-VI/1-3 EFA,

A-VI/1-4 PSSR

After successful completion of the above course what do I do?

Your company will allot you a ship in which you are required to complete 18 months of sea time, in number of contracts as required by the company.(This training includes on-board training, TRB and 6 months supervised bridge watch keeping keeping)

Your company will allot you a ship in which you are required to complete 36 months of sea time, in number of contracts as required by the company.(which includes six months  supervised bridge watch keeping duties) These 36 months you will be sailing as a deck rating.

After successful completion of on-board training what do I do?

(Post sea  Education ,training and assessment )

You are required to complete post-sea education and training. This includes Assessment of TRB. Also 4 months of NWKO (NCV) course + Radar and ARPA simulator training at operational level.

-       A-IV/2 GMDSS GOC

-       A-IV/2-1 PSC&RB

-       A-IV/3 AFF

-       A-IV/4-1 MFA

WRITEN AND ORAL EXAM

4 months of NWKO (NCV) course + Radar and ARPA simulator training at operational level.

-       A-IV/2 GMDSS GOC

-       A-IV/2-1 PSC&RB

-       A-IV/3 AFF

-       A-IV/4-1 MFA

What happens after successful completion of the examination?

(Certificate of competency)

You will get a certificate of competency as NAVIGATIONAL WATCH-KEEPING OFFICER (NCV). With this COC you are eligible to sail on any NCV vessel as officer in charge.

You will get a certificate of competency as NAVIGATIONAL WATCH-KEEPING OFFICER (NCV). With this COC you are eligible to sail on any NCV vessel as officer in charge.

What is next?

(Sea Going service)

With the above COC you are eligible to sail on any NCV vessel as officer in charge. You are required to complete a minimum period of 18 months as OIC (NCV)

After successful completion of 18 months as described above , what do I do?

(Post sea  Education ,training and assessment )

Assessment of sea-going service + Radar and ARPA simulator training at management level + Search and rescue training + A-VI/4-2 Medical care + A - I/6 and B - I/6 Training and assessment + A-I/8 and B-I/6 Quality standards.

After successful completion of the above courses you will be appearing for an  Written and Oral exam.

What happens after successful completion of the examination?

(Certificate of competency)

You get a certificate of competency “Mate of home trade ship CM(NCV)

What is next?

(Sea Going service)

18 Months as OIC NW(NCV) OR 12 months as CM (NCV)

After successful completion of  sea time  as described above , what do I do?

(Post sea  Education ,training and assessment )

Assessment of sea-going service + Ship management course + Ship handling / Maneuvering Simulator training or additional Sea going service

Written and Oral Exam

What happens after successful completion of the examination?

(Certificate of competency)
